Emily Capps, LPCA

Emily Capps is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who specializes in helping adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by past experiences that continue to affect their daily life. She has a strong clinical focus on trauma-informed care, EMDR therapy, anxiety, mood concerns, emotional distress, and neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism.

Emily’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in creating a space where clients can feel safe, understood, and supported. She believes therapy does not require having the “right words” or being able to explain everything perfectly. Instead, she works with clients at a pace that feels manageable, helping them process painful experiences, better understand their patterns, and build practical tools for emotional regulation and day-to-day functioning.

Emily incorporates EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, motivational interviewing, and DBT-informed skills based on each client’s needs. Her work is especially helpful for clients who are trying to move beyond survival mode, reduce emotional overwhelm, improve self-understanding, and create healthier ways of responding to stress, relationships, and life transitions.

Emily also has experience in school-based mental health, women’s residential recovery, behavioral health administration, crisis response, de-escalation, group facilitation, and treatment planning. Her clinical style is compassionate, steady, and empowering, with a focus on helping clients feel less alone in their struggles and more equipped to move toward healing and meaningful change.

Outside of therapy, Emily enjoys spending time with her dog, Rupp, reading fantasy books, being outdoors, biking, going for walks, and relaxing on her porch with a good book.
